Background

The initiative to establish Centre-KUTAI as the Research Centre for the Study of Heritage in Perak was originally the result of relentless dedication and enthusiasm of several scholars from the Faculty of Architecture, Planning and Survey of Universiti Teknologi MARA in Seri Iskandar.

The traditional Malay Architecture has long been the inherent manifestation of its culture, its belief and the ‘genius loci’ or ‘spirit’ of the Malay world. It deserves a special place in the regional’s architectural vocabulary.
